I have a wedding here Saturday, and they'd planned to have their reception in the (beautiful) main foyer. With the Red Cross check in/out/assessment right there, and with our guests still here, that wasn't going to work. I called the bride (not a member of Asbury) and told her the situation and she agreed to meet with me yesterday to look at the place and make a determination of what she wanted to do. When she and her fiancĂ© came, they were amazed at what they saw, and agreed that the foyer wouldn’t work. My backup plan was for them to use the youth area…not the pretty, formal place that the foyer is, but still workable. I said, "We can still host it, it just won’t be your dream reception." Her response made me cry. She said, "That's ok. It's the marriage that’s important, not the reception. The youth area will work out great." God’s spirit is surely in this couple, and He used their wonderful attitudes to alleviate a lot of stress, not only within me, but with several people trying to figure out alternatives.
